In mid-September 2020, I woke up to the most frightening sound. Like nothing I’ve ever experienced, it entered into my room, then my body, and it terrified me. I reached over to my husband to ask him what he thought it was. To my surprise, he knew right away that it was…a Barn Owl. He grew up on a farm, and barn owls were quite common. His knowledge and calm demeanor put me at ease. I grabbed my phone and searched the internet to learn more about my nightly visitor. They are so beautiful, but they make a terrifying noise. As I researched more, I felt compelled to paint a piece dedicated to this little soul outside my window. I love nature, learning, and creating art about what I experience day to day.
