I enjoy the Liesegang rings formed in this artwork. These rings are a visual phenomenon where periodic, concentric bands or rings form due to the precipitation of a substance in a medium. In my tusche wash paintings, this effect appears as a series of multiple, irregularly spaced ring-like marks or lines that follow the drying patterns of the liquid wash (water, acetone, and mineral spirits).
The rings add layers of depth and complexity, as they emphasize the movement of the medium, and this creates a sense of natural rhythm or vibration within the painting, highlighting the interaction of material and process.
