Hinault

Megan’s Bernard Hinault artwork features the acclaimed French cyclist – who won the Tour de France five times (1978-1985), the Giro d’Italia three times (1980-1985) and the Vuelta Espagna twice (1978,1983).  Known as “le blaireau” – the badger – within the professional peloton, Hinault’s aggressive control of races made him a fan favorite.  He is both loved & despised from the infamous 1986 Tour de France battle with american, Greg LeMond, in a feud that split the La Vie Claire team between the two dominate teammates.

Hinault was one of the first Coffee Art Prints by Megan Morgan debuted in Steamboat Springs, Colorado 2009.  The delicate hand-cut stencil was hand applied to a re-purposed burlap coffee bag ‘canvas’ creating the uniquely warm & tactile artwork. Megan created a hand cut mylar stencil of her Hinault artwork using an electric stencil cutting tool – while more durable than the Bottecchia paper stencil it remained fairly fragile, especially within the finer detail elements of the artwork. The final Hinault artwork template was laid upon a repurposed coffee bag to allow Megan to transfer the monochromatic artwork with an earthy brown spray paint directly to the burlap canvas.
