“Winter is a playful spirit that briskly gallops in and out of fall, until it is ready to settle in for the season.”
I created this piece to exemplify my thoughts and feelings about winter. The season can abruptly come upon us, like a feisty little colt thrusting and prancing over my mature crop of cherry tomatoes. Unknowingly, winter proudly bursts in, unwelcome and naive to how I feel about it. I curse at it and attempt to shoo it away. But as it returns again and again, I begin to accept that it is here to settle in for its duration.
