Rainbow

Rainbow was born from a moment of impulse—a sudden spark. I wanted to capture the sensation I experience as an artist when working with burlap: the rush of energy that rises when an idea takes hold, the way the fabric’s raw texture and chaotic nature pull me in. There’s something in its unruliness that feeds my momentum and drives me to create. Along with this work, I’ve also started to freewrite, to help me release words or subconscious ideas I felt while making this artwork:

Rainbow

Whim wanders in
blushing thwarted threads,
brightening surly surfaces,
flaring fissures,
and radiating ridges.

It holds a coarse luster
frayed futures,
scraped knuckles,
and bolts of hope.

Untethered, arching
its light weaves forward,
finding wovement.

Definition:
Wovement (n.)
I created this word by fusing “woven” and “movement” together to describe a quiet, deliberate motion that feels both held and flowing, Like rainbows threading light through air, or time unraveling in quiet grace.
